The Kukdukoo Literature Festival, spread over two days- from 2nd Feb to 3rd, 2019- is the most interactive literature festival for children. It features more than 40 Indian and international storytellers, musicians, performers, puppeteers, and artists. The venue for the festival is the Kiran Nadar Museum of Arts.
Numerous studies have emphasized the importance of reading to children. From developing their brains to enriching their memory to helping them learn a new language, reading comes with a plethora of benefits for children. The festival is an attempt to converse with the kids and their parents on the benefits of reading good literature. Though storytelling is an important part of the festival, the event is not restricted to it. We have expanded the scope of literature beyond books to theatrical and musical performances, puppetry workshops, and DIY sessions. KLF features storytelling sessions by renowned storytellers like Geeta Ramanujan, Syeda from Greece, Rituparna Ghosh, Seema Wahi Mukherjee, Musical Storytelling by Shalini, Write with Author by Richa Jha, in addition to plays, poetry writing and mime theatre workshop.
The festival also houses a small book fair featuring some of the best Indian and international authors for children. KLF is a great opportunity for children to come closer to the literary characters they adore.
